June 7, Gao Juqing, the founder of tunneling science in China, internationally well-known scientist in tunneling field, professor with Southwest Jiaotong University, emeritus member of CCES-TUWB past away at the age of 81 in Chengdu 
 　　2002: Oct 13-15, the 6 th CCES-TUWB council conference and 2 nd academic congress were held, in which Mr. Guo Shanyu was elected as the council president. From then on, CCES-TUWB is affiliated to the China Railway Tunnel Group Co., Ltd.
